Corney & Barrow Wine Merchants

Corney & Barrow believes that life rewards the curious.  It’s the philosophy which launched the Wine Merchant in 1780 and is embodied today through their eclectic group. Though backgrounds vary, they’re united in a love of wine and the entire process from grape to glass.

Their aim is to offer carefully-selected, honestly-priced wines that not only deliver quality and value for money, but also a sense of place.

The original shop, opened 237 years ago by Edward Bland Corney, was on Old Broad Street in the City of London, selling a small selection of Port, Sherry and Bordeaux. The Head Office has remained city based ever since.

Still privately owned, Corney & Barrow has grown nationally and internationally, into every sector of the market, with sales offices in London, Edinburgh, North Yorkshire, Hong Kong and Singapore. They also run shops in Newmarket and Ayr, having acquired the Scottish Merchants Whighams of Ayr in 1994.

Where possible, they aim to build exclusive relationships with suppliers, making their selection of wines unique. They work as closely with their suppliers as with their customers and it is particularly this which differentiates them as a wine merchant.
